Factory Pro Superflare Billet Velocity Stacks
Improve power EVERYWHERE.
in class -Factory Pro has added the R1 to it's large selection
of stack applications - R6 carbureted, R6 FI, cbr600rr, cbr929, cbr954
The 59mm stacks are a "must have" for those people who installed an aftermarket airbox and lost a lot of lowend and midrange.
BUT - These stacks were originally designed for the the stock airbox and a BMC RACE filter to improve power over the entire powerband -
OF THE VALLEY CAN BE SEEN FROM THE EDGE OF THE CLIFF THAN FROM BACK
WHERE IT'S SAFE!!!!
AS I HAD 150BHP AT THE BACK WHEEL BEFORE THE STACKS IT WAS GOOD. 1ST 2ND 3RD GEAR WHEELIES.
NOW WITH THE STACKS ON THERE IS EVEN MORE MID RANGE. FROM AROUND 7 GRAND ISH DON'T KNOW
FOR SHORE COS THE ****** JUST WANTS TO GO AIRBORNE IN FIRST 4 GEARS. IT JUST PULLS AND PULLS
AND PULLS ALL THE WAY TO THE RED LINE. DON'T KNOW IF ITS GIVEN ME ANYMORE TOP END HP WILL
HAVE TO GO TO THE DYNO FOR THAT ONE I THINK.
ANYONE WITH A R1 NEEDS SOME OF THESE. WHAT A DIFFERENCE.
Carb Recal Kit
Ti ProKit Carb jetting kit
The ultimate in class - Titanium
needles for the maximum in needle jet long life over stainless steel.
The same needle dimensions as the 1.0 kit. Includes stainless steel
allen screws for the float bowls instead of gold zinc coating.
Don't know if you'll remember me but a few years back I emailed you for advice about tuning my UK spec 99 R1 for a full system, I'd been struggling with an aftermarket jet kit and rich running at low revs. You patiently took me through the tuning of the bike from resetting the float heights and choosing a main jet to final adjustment of the pilot screws with me reporting back on what I'd discovered at each point, riding the bike and using my "seat of the pants dyno". All this time I was still using the needles and the stock parts I had to hand, the bike ended up running much better and I was impressed enough to buy one of your Ti needle kits and repeat the process and the bike ran superbly. I've since recommended your kits and particularly your carb tuning page, to many people on the web and IRL.
Sadly the beautifully tuned and Ohlins suspended 99 R1 was written off when a car hit me on the Nurbergring..
So I've now got an 04 R1 with Akra slipons (with the removable mutes, I put them back in for the yearly test), a Y piece , a K&N (Sorry, it was already fitted when I got the bike ;-) and a PC3 with the slipon and filter map that it came with, I've not messed with the PC3 at all..
I just ordered the V Stacks from you and I'm looking forward to fitting them and hearing and feeling the difference. I'm wondering if you can recommend a PC map that will work well with the setup, I couldn't find anything on the site about this and I don't think there is an EC dyno near me in the South of England.
Thanks and best regards

Ignition Advance Rotor
+4 degrees advance adds power at ALL part throttle
positions. That equates to more "snap" in throttle response for you.
Carb Recal Kit
Adds more low-end / midrange and
if the proper main jet is selected, more top-end power. Banished
the 4k Buzz in December 1998!!
Will add ~1hp at high rpm when properly jetted (~1mj increase) and will "clean up" low-end richness when fully warmed upon stock carbureted bike otherwise.
Race adds 1-2 True HP
Also - For even more power.... Factory Pro's V Stacks!
|Billet Alloy Engine Covers - now with integrated frame "sliders"!|
COV-Y68-RH Right side $189.95
Billet Engine Covers w/ Sliders
with Factory's R1 kits have never had fuel leakage problems, like some
others, as we have always stressed the importance of setting fuel levels
(float heights) to proper tuning and mechanical specifications from
day one. No magic - just good engineering from the start.
2.Factory kits smooth out the 4000 rpm buzz - the larger pilot, in conjunction with the proper needle base diameter, simply erases the buzz - In fact - we never even thought of the R1 as a particularly "buzzy" bike, as we never had a buzz after we tuned the bike - and most bikes ARE buzzy at a cruise lean spot, anyway.
The EC997 dynes will actually display "engine smoothness" in realtime.
3. Factory Pro's Y68 kit specifies non-staggered main jets - Why? Because the EC997 Low Inertia dyne systems CAN see the power difference in only 1 jet size change on only 2 carbs - and common, dealership level dynes just can't function at that detail level - You'd be surprised at who uses a dealership level dyno to "design" products......
4. It took some time to develop the kit - but we didn't have to make 35 different needles or anything like that - Proper dyne test equipment allows pertinent information that guides the kit designer in the proper direction - without flailing and jetting by "luck" and then bragging about how hard it was -
5. Conserving fuel mileage is a normal Factory Pro goal - The Y68 Series kit will deliver the best performance while retaining the best mileage possible when properly tuned.
6. Even though great results are obtained by simply dropping in the kit as per suggested settings, Factory Pro's Y68 Series kit contains several different main jet sizes to allow a discriminating tuner/owner to obtain the BEST performance - regardless of the temperature, humidity, elevation, local fuel type - It ridiculous to assume that every R1 will take the same size main jet.
7. For best performance, the RTR-YAM-68-04 Ignition Advance will absolutely improve part throttle power (snap and wheelie!) and has improved full throttle power on every R1 that's been properly tuned.
8. Part throttle power? It's improved - as is Throttle
Linearity - Cutting springs and opening up slide damping holes decreases
the "control" that the rider has when "riding the twisties" esp. when

Just installed the Factory Pro Carb Kit - 1st impressions
Well, for the impressions now... I took the bike for a short ride and it worked very well "out of the box", even before the carb sync. It seems a tad weak below 2000rpm (big deal..) but really takes off from 3500 rpm (i.e. the front feels real light) with a beautiful linear feel.
The engine is not rough anymore, almost silky.
I'll take it for another spin tonight when traffic is lighter and will let you know should anything else comes to my mind. Note that the oem bike, despite its 20K miles, was working well before the install and had been tuned up recently.
But nothing compared to now.
Bottom line: when faced with the task of installing the kit yesterday evening, and wondering whether it would work well once put back together, I had second thoughts. But now I wonder why I did not buy this kit earlier. Great investment, and cheaper than a new bike.
Now, for those without a carb kit: what are you waiting for ?
